Beeswax Candle Care
Before Burning
- Trim the Wick:Keep the wick about 1/4 inch long to prevent smoking and large flames, removing any “mushroom” top.
- Check Wick Position:Ensure the wick is upright and centered before lighting.
- Prepare Surface:Place on a stable, heat-resistant surface, using a candle holder or tray to catch drips.
- Clear Debris:Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, and debris.
While Burning
- Avoid Drafts:Keep away from windows, fans, vents, and air currents to prevent flickering, dripping, and uneven burning (tunneling).
- First Burn:Allow the wax to melt to the edges of the container (around 2-3 hours) to set a “memory” and prevent tunneling.
- Limit Burn Time:Don’t burn for more than 3-4 hours at a time.
- Never Unattended:Always burn within sight and keep away from flammable objects, children, and pets.
Extinguishing & Aftercare
- Extinguish Safely:Don’t blow it out; use a snuffer or gently dip the lit wick into the wax pool with a metal tool, then straighten it.
- Cool Completely:Let the candle cool fully before moving or relighting.
- Store Properly:Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve color and scent.
